As of mid-2026 Rockstar has released ZERO gameplay footage. That means every viral 'gameplay leak' from 2025-2026 is fake — AI-generated, modded GTA 5, or repurposed 2022-hack clips. If it claims to be new gameplay, start from 'it's fake' and make it prove otherwise.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated flatly that generative AI has 'zero part' in GTA 6 and that Rockstar's worlds are 'handcrafted... building by building.' That's the official line that separates the real game from the AI 'leaks' flooding your feed.

GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It slipped from 2025, then from a May 26, 2026 date — but Zelnick has reaffirmed it will NOT move again.

Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos headline a Bonnie-and-Clyde crime story set in a reimagined Vice City within the State of Leonida. Confirmed by official Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025).

Zelnick says the Extended Look is just 'one of the hors d'oeuvres' of the campaign: 'There are appetizers, a main course, and dessert to follow.' Translation — expect more official GTA 6 marketing between August 27 and launch day. He also told Bloomberg's Jason Schreier the special will 'feel like watching a Netflix show' and called it a 'must-see event.' What he pointedly did NOT confirm: runtime, format, or contents. So if someone tells you it's a 30-minute documentary, they're guessing — Rockstar hasn't said.

GTA 6 ships on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. No PC version is announced for launch; a later port is widely expected but unconfirmed.

On the Take-Two Q1 FY2027 earnings call, Zelnick described GTA 6 pre-order demand as 'unprecedented and astonishing.'

Rockstar officially confirmed a third-party data breach and characterized the accessed data as 'non-material' with 'no impact' on players. This was the corporate side of the house, not the game.

It was a supply-chain attack. ShinyHunters compromised analytics vendor Anodot, stole service-account tokens, and used them to log into Rockstar's Snowflake data warehouse — part of the broader Snowflake credential campaign that also hit Ticketmaster, AT&T and ~165 orgs.

This breach hit corporate cloud analytics, not development systems — a crucial contrast with 2022, which DID leak source code and footage. Note this rests partly on absence of evidence plus Rockstar's own framing.

ShinyHunters CLAIMED to have exfiltrated 78.6 million records, a figure relayed to Reuters. Rockstar only called it a 'limited amount of non-material' info. Treat the number as an attacker assertion, not a fact.

ShinyHunters set an April 14, 2026 deadline with a pay-or-leak ultimatum. Rockstar refused to pay, and the files were published April 14-15, 2026.

The cache is described as internal business/analytics data — revenue and KPI metrics — reportedly with no player credentials or payment-card data. Handle with care: Rockstar never confirmed the contents, and outlets describe the cache inconsistently (analytics metrics vs. contracts/financial/marketing docs). All of it is hacker/analyst-side.

The November 2025 clip that racked up 8M+ views in 24 hours was AI-generated. The creator admitted it was an 'experiment,' then deleted/renamed the account. This was the clip that kicked off the whole fake-leak wave.

The February 2026 clip was hand-built from official trailer stills and passed off as a TV recording. It was exposed by a 'poin of interest' typo baked right into the fake HUD.

The March 2026 bridge clip was hand-built over months from scratch. The creator later posted a YouTube breakdown explaining exactly how they faked it.

The late-May 2026 map (4chan → Reddit) was AI-generated. Dead giveaway: the blank grass plains lined up exactly with the areas the community mapping project hadn't solved yet.

A clip pitched as long-hidden footage that finally got posted was determined to be fake. The 'why now?' backstory is a classic tell.

The loudest take of the week is flat wrong. You do NOT need Netflix to see 'An Extended Look.' Netflix members get it six hours EARLY at 3pm ET on August 27; the identical video goes up free on Rockstar's YouTube and the GTA VI site at 9pm ET the same day. Six-hour window, not a paywall. Plenty of fans still think the stunt is bizarre — 'weirdest marketing I've ever seen' — and that gripe is fair game. 'You have to pay to watch it' is not.

Financial terms of the Rockstar-Netflix deal have NOT been disclosed, so every dollar figure being passed around — and every confident 'Netflix paid nothing' post — is somebody's guess dressed up as reporting. Zelnick hinted to Bloomberg that the reasoning isn't purely about money and that people will 'understand why Rockstar chose Netflix' once it airs. That's a tease, not a disclosure. Open question, not a fact.

Viral posts claiming 2022 leaker Arion Kurtaj was released are wrong. He was MOVED from a secure hospital to prison and remains in custody. Some outlets (e.g. GamingBible) ran the misleading 'released' headline — the framing is the hoax here, not the move itself.

A June 2026 YouTube 'Walkthrough Gameplay Part 1' was old 2022-hack footage relabeled as new. And note the durable lesson: a fast Take-Two/DMCA takedown is NOT proof a clip is real — auto-matching strikes anything tagged 'GTA 6 gameplay.' Single-source, so we flag it.

One April 2026 clip is circulating as possibly-real. To be clear: it is UNVERIFIED — Rockstar hasn't confirmed it and no one has proven it fake either. We list it as an open question, not a leak. Don't treat it as real.

Fake 'VIP early access' sites charge cryptocurrency (around $250 in Bitcoin/USDT/ETH) and deliver nothing. Crypto is irreversible, so there's no chargeback and no getting it back.

Bogus GTA 6 'beta' installers spread Windows and Android malware — one was disguised as an NVIDIA driver, flagged May 17, 2026. There is NO public GTA 6 beta. If someone offers you one, it's malware.

Phishing pages impersonate the Rockstar Social Club login to steal your account, some hosted on legit-looking GitHub/Vercel domains, alongside counterfeit FitGirl/DODI piracy sites. Only log in at rockstargames.com.

Android apps carrying Rockstar branding pose as the 'GTA 6 Beta' but just serve ads and push paid-subscription traps. Multi-outlet but reported, so we tag it as such.

Counterfeit pre-order sites harvest card and banking details, surging around the June 25, 2026 pre-order opening. Buy ONLY through official storefronts (PlayStation Store, Xbox, Rockstar).

Scam tells: crypto-only payment, urgency/countdown language, beta-key or VIP promises, and unsolicited links. Protect yourself: turn on 2FA, use official channels only, and NEVER pay crypto for game access.

'teapotuberhacker' posted ~90 clips of in-development GTA 6 footage, plus source code, to GTAForums — the biggest leak in game history and the ONLY genuine GTA 6 footage ever leaked.

Rockstar/Take-Two officially confirmed the 2022 breach and that the leaked footage was genuine — the only leak Rockstar has EVER authenticated. That's why the '22 clips still get recycled by fakers today.

Kurtaj, a Lapsus$ member who also hit Uber, Nvidia and BT, got in via stolen Rockstar Slack credentials — and ran the hack while on bail in a Travelodge using an Amazon Fire TV Stick, the hotel TV, and a phone.

In August 2023 a jury found Kurtaj responsible; in December 2023 he received an indefinite secure-hospital order after being found unfit to stand trial (severe autism). The judge cited high risk and his stated intent to return to cybercrime.

The first official GTA 6 trailer released a day ahead of schedule after it leaked online. Note: this was a marketing-asset leak, not game code.

Reporting restrictions lifted around July 14, 2026. Kurtaj was moved from the secure hospital to prison, with a retrial set for November 2026 — the same month GTA 6 launches. The move signals medical experts now consider him fit to stand trial; charges and the exact trial date remain undisclosed.
